Baby Shower!
We do have pictures that Bill took, but my face is so puffy and I am horrified enough to go out in public, much less display it on the internet, so this will have to remain image-less. Bill's mom and sister did an amazing job making a ton of food, decorating, organizing games and prizes, and hosting at our home yesterday. We had a good turnout (maybe 20 people?) and they all spoiled Ashton thoroughly with a million cute outfits, toys, books, and other miscellaneous baby must-haves. We shouldn't have to buy him anything for quite awhile now! My goals now include washing all his clothes and putting them away, finishing the nursery (so I can post a picture up here!), packing my hospital bag (after buying a few last things), and getting my wedding ring cut off! It took me a long time to get my engagement ring off this morning, after putting ice on my finger, keeping it elevated, and spraying Windex all over my finger (I don't know why that worked, but it did!), but now it's really red and irritated and STILL swollen, so the only way I can save this poor finger is by having the remaining ring removed. The skin is rubbed so raw from the first ring, there is no way I can get this one off. I wish I had known this would happen so I could have just taken them off before. At least it will be simple for them to fix it and I can just put them back on when my fingers shrink again. I guess a person can't gain 60 lbs and expect it to not show up...well...EVERYWHERE. In four days I will be full-term and doing everything in my power to encourage this baby to GET OUT!!!

That stinks about your ring (and your poor, raw finger)! That's the kind of thing you don't see coming until it's too late. I'm so excited for Ashton to arrive! I can't give any advice on early eviction strategies. By the time Emily was 12 days overdue, we just gave up and went for the induction. I'm hoping it happens at least a little early for your sake! You've certainly had it rough with nausea and sleep and everything else. You deserve to skip the last little bit, in my opinion!
Thank you, Mary! I know these babies never come until they want to, but I will certainly try to encourage him! I'm hoping if I start a little early, he'll get the hint...in the meantime, I love reading your blog and seeing the kids change so quickly!
